The rumbling of Harley-Davidson V-twin engines signifies the start of this year's 2016 Milwaukee Rally – the Midwest's largest free motorcycle rally and one of the last ones of the season.

It's an epic party that lasts all weekend long, bringing together people who love Harley-Davidson. While it's not an official Harley-Davidson birthday event, motorcyclists from across the country rumbled into Milwaukee during the Labor Day weekend for the big rally.

The rally includes Milwaukee Harley-Davidson, House of Harley-Davidson in Greenfield; Hal’s Harley-Davidson in New Berlin; Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson in Thiensville; Wisconsin Harley-Davidson, in Oconomowoc;  the Harley Museum and the Harley’s engine plant in Menomonee Falls where new 2017 models weere available for test rides.

The Museum is one of the first places to see the new 2017 Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. The new product trailer featured the new models including the new Milwaukee-Eight engine.

Enthusiats enjoyed the works of custom culture artisans and visited the special summer exhibit, Drag Racing: America's Fast Time before it closes on September 5. That’s not all; the entire weekend was packed with live entertainment, and lots of great food and drink.

The Museum Invitational Bike Builder Custom Bike Show

The Harley-Davidson Museum hosts two Custom Bike Shows: H-D Museum Ride-In Custom Bike Show and H-D Museum Invitational Bike Builder Custom Bike Show.

The ride-in bike show on Sunday and the Invitational Custom Bike Show featured builders from across the Midwest. First Place in FreeStyle and Retro Custom was awarded to Jordan Dickinson of Union Speed & Design with his custom Knucklehead and Panhead respectively. Dusty Pine took the Street Custom and Earl Ward took first in Performance.

Harley-Davidson’s new Milwaukee-Eight engine is the ninth Big Twin in the Milwaukee-based company’s history. The engine offers more power and an improved riding experience while retaining the iconic look, sound and feel of its predecessors, Harley officials said.

The new engine is completely manufactured and assembled at Harley-Davidson’s Powertrain Operations factory in Menomonee Falls.

Scott Miller ,Harley-Davidson vice president of styling and product development strategy, said that you truly have to ride one to feel the difference – so they're inviting all riders to visit a Harley-Davidson dealer and take a test ride

The Milwaukee-Eight engine is also counter-balanced to cancel 75 percent of primary vibration at idle, and a new heat management strategy promises improved rider and passenger comfort.

The new engine is being coupled with new front and rear suspension components designed to enhance comfort and control, according to Harley-Davidson.

Retaining the classic 45-degree V-Twin cylinder angle, the Milwaukee-Eight engine produces 10 percent more torque and features four-valve cylinder heads that offer 50 percent more intake and exhaust flow capacity than previous year models.
